Do you think rape in manga is bad and glorifies rape? what about shota?

theyaoitreasuretrove:

IT FINALLY HAPPENS! I knew I’d eventually get asked this question. My opinions on rape and shota are the same as the ones I have on every yaoi category,
I’m perfectly fine with it because I know that what I’m reading is just
a fantasy, it ain’t freaking real. I do, however, have a problem with
the people out there who seem to like forcing their negative and rude
comments about yaoi
rape and those who enjoy it, down everyone’s throats. They need to
realize that rape isn’t something that only happens in the real world
and in yaoi manga, it
happens in movies, novels, music, video games, television shows, and
porn, but they probably wouldn’t bitch about those like they do yaoi rape since that wouldn’t be as much fun as starting a fight between yaoi fans. Hell, some real men and women have their own rape fantasies, but no one is going to go up to them and tell them they’re
disgusting and sick! As for the glorifying rape shit, I don’t think most
mangaka put a rape
scene in their manga with that kind of intention. I think a lot of them
use it as a way to push the relationship between their two main
characters to the next level. We’ve all read a manga where both the uke and seme
have firmly decided that they will NEVER tell each other about their
feelings because they don’t want to ruin their friendship and,
once they’ve made that decision, they’re going to stick to it unless
something major happens. That something is usually the snapping of a seme’s sanity which, about 9 out of 10 times, is due to some misunderstanding involving his uke and another man. Once a seme’s
lost his sanity, there’s a pretty good chance there’s going to be a rape
scene, but skip ahead a few pages and, what was once rape, has now
become consensual and is usually followed by a bunch of I love yous
and some after sex sparkling in the background. I know that this is just one of the many rape scenarios, but I don’t think that’s
glorifying rape and if you do, it’s obvious you’ve never taken the time
to look up the definition of glorify.

My thoughts on shota
are exactly the same. I’m fine with it because it’s not real, but,
again, I have a problem with those who feel like they have the right to
constantly bash those who like it. I think that most of the people who
compare it to child porn, don’t actually know what real child porn is so
they just focus on the word “child.” I believe that applying real laws
to the world of yaoi, puts this “shotacon=child porn” bullshit into perspective. If yaoi manga wasn’t fantasy, but real porn that showed frick-fracking between real human people, then yes, shota would be considered child porn, but it wouldn’t be the only type of yaoi that would be labeled as such. Why? Because real child porn isn’t just explicit material involving young children, it’s explicit material involving MINORS which, where I live, is a word that means someone is under the age of 18. This means that we would all be guilty of reading, owning, and
enjoying child porn because I’m 100% sure you’ve all read a manga or doujinshi where
either the seme or uke
was under the age of 18. Sure, my thinking might be a little extreme,
but I think it’s better than being an ignorant asshole who likes to go
around letting others know just how fucked up and sick he/she thinks
they are. I already think there’s enough judgment from those who dislike
yaoi so we don’t need yaoi fans hating on each other.
